The difference between the “Water glass sand (Sodium silicate) casting process” and the “Alkaline phenolic resin casting process” is mainly reflected in the following aspects:
-Different Binders: The binder used in the “Water glass sand casting process” is “Sodium silicate”, while the binder used in the “Alkaline phenolic resin sand casting process” is “Alkaline phenolic resin”.
-Different hardening methods: The hardening methods of “Sodium silicate sand” can be divided into three categories: “Thermal hardening method”; “Gas hardening method”; and “Self hardening method”; etc.,. The commonly used hardening methods currently include “Ordinary CO ₂ gas hardening method and “Organic ester self hardening method”. “Alkaline phenolic resin sand” is generally hardened by heating.
-The performance of molding sand is different: the molding sand made by the “Sodium silicate sand process” has a “High water content”, is easy to absorb moisture, and has poor hard permeability and collapsibility in winter. The molding sand made of “Alkaline phenolic resin sand” has high strength and good collapsibility.
-Cost difference: The cost of “Sodium silicate sand process” is lower, while the cost of “Alkali phenolic resin sand process” is relatively higher.
